Notes:Walk down the footpath from the point shown on the map. Arrows direct you into the woods and once here look for a faint track on your right just after entering and head back north to find three yews growing on the steep bank of the chalk pit. Photos 1 and 2 show the two of these, girthing 10′ 1” and 8′ 5”. Return to the main track and head south along the terraced path and all the yews can be found growing on the east slope (your left). After seeing a particularly tall yew (photo 3)- the only one growing at the foot of the slope, there is a gap of 170 paces until the next five yews. The largest of these, with a girth of about 11′, grows at a junction of paths (photo 4).
