Stowey

Tree ID: 1733

Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m

Tree girth: 409cm

Girth height: at 60cm

Tree sex: unspecified

Date of visit: 18-Jan-04

Source of earliest mention: 2003: Siobahn Watson

Notes:

January 2004 – Tim Hills: Three yews grow in a line on the north side of the church. The notable yew is furthest from the road. Twiggy growth and swelling caused by branch removal makes it appear larger than it is. Girth of 13′ 9” (419cm) at the ground in 2004 was exaggerated by twiggy growth.
Remeasured in 2015 a girth of 13′ 5 ½” (410cm) was recorded at or close to the ground avoiding new shoots at the tree’s base.
January 2015 – Peter Norton: Girth at approximately 2′ of 13′ 5”(409cm).
