Notes:

The Old Stone Crosses of Dorset by Alfred Pope (1906) tells us that more than a century ago an ancient yew grew in this churchyard. ‘In the churchyard; to the west of the tower and near the spot where once stood a venerable yew tree twenty-eight feet in circumference’. This tree was also noted in Hutchins’ 1774 History of Dorset.
Today these two smaller girthed yews grow to the west of the church.
