These yews have been included on this web site as an example of the importance of photographic evidence – in this instance documenting growth over 100 years. Present girth would indicate a likely age of about 150 years, so that in the Frith photos they were about 50 years old. This 2007 photograph was taken from in front of the church. The yew on the left (right in the Frith photos) is male with a girth of 7′ 2” at 3′, that on the right is female with a girth of 7′ 7” at 3′.
