Owen Johnson’s ‘Towering gothic column’ is an apt description. A single gap in the base at the far side of the tree reveals it to be hollow. It has living wood around its entire circumference. Girth of 16′ 7” (505cm) at 2′, which is 5′ where ground falls away.
