Notes:February 2007 and November 2020 – Tim Hills: There are 7 yews in this avenue, on either side of a path leading towards the church tower. Three are on the north side of the path when approaching the church. Their girths, all recorded at 2′ were as follows:
(1) 8′ 11” in 2007, increasing to 9′ 5” in 2020
(2) 8′ 3” in 2007, increasing to 8′ 6½” in 2020
(3) 7′ 7” in 2007, increasing to 8′ 0” in 2020.
Tree 2, which has the smallest increase, only has living wood on about half of its trunk.
The four yews on the south side are as follows:
(1) 6′ 8” in 2007, rising to 6′ 9” in 2020
(2) this yew only has living wood for a third of its girth and was 4′ 11” in 2007, rising to 5′ 1” in 2020
(3) 6′ 8” in 2007, rising to 6′ 9½” in 2020
(4) 8′ 8” in 2007, rising to 8′ 11” in 2020.
The rate of growth is considerably greater in the yews on the north side of the path.
