In The Immortal Yew by Tony Hall, published by The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew in 2018, a photograph on pages 202/203 shows a huge stump with young yews growing well at either end. Alongside the photo is the description “The stump may be long dead, but the two clones that have grown on either side are thriving.”
In the main text we read that “The churchyard also contains the remnants of what was once a very old and large yew – with a trunk more than 2m (6ft) wide – which is sadly now just a dead stump, with two of its clones on either side. ”
These are found just in from the lychgate, on the right-hand side of the path.
