West Langdon

Tree ID: 2170

Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m

Tree girth: 427cm

Girth height: at 90cm

Tree sex: female

Date of visit: 29-Apr-07

Source of earliest mention: 2007: Nicholas Cox

Notes:

April 2007 – Nicholas Cox: Height is about 6m. There is evidence of an old decayed bole at base and regrowth through this. Much of what can be seen has the appearance of internal growth that is now developing on the outside, with the original trunk gone. This would suggest that it was once a much more substantial tree.
2013 – Tim Hills: Impossible to measure with much low growth. Much dead sapwood, particularly in the centre at a height of about 5′. Some of the twisted shapes on the north side look like internal stems. If this was the case the tree was once considerably larger.
