Tree girth: 335cm

Girth height: at 30cm

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 20-Aug-05

Source of earliest mention: 1938: The King's England - Arthur Mee

Notes:

August 2005 – Tim Hills: The solid tree has dipping branches and a fine overall shape. Branching begins from its slightly twisting bole above 6′. If this is the tree planted in 1688 it has taken 317 years to put on 122 inches of girth. This was followed by a further 10 inches in only 12 years to 2017.
2017 – Paul Wood: The bole is twisted and fluted. Foliage was sparse and yellowy green and many limbs have been removed. The surrounding area had been cleared and mowed and the whole churchyard was tidy and well kept. I measured the yew at 1′ and recorded a girth of 11′ 0” (3.35m). There was no visible hollowing, though water pockets and white wood was seen at various points around the bole.
