Tree ID: 5017
Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m
Tree girth: 579cm
Girth height: No data
Tree sex: Unspecified
Date of visit: 1/12/2016
Source of earliest mention: Paul Wood
Notes:Tree 2 is by far the largest of the four, found at SO48767055. The ditch and boggy ground prevented closer inspection. What we see appears to be growing from a tree cut back to a stump, so that the present crown and canopy are only a few years old. My impression was that the tree was reduced to a stump about 30 years ago. Two small limbs can be seen on the left side of this yew growing well separated from the main tree. I estimated girth to be in the region of 18′ to 20′, but its shape suggested it could have once been larger still. The regrowth appears to be healthy but ivy is becoming a problem.
