Notes: The church dates back to Norman times. As well as the ancient tree there are 10 further yews around the churchyard and an avenue of 12 young yews leading to the church porch. According to local tradition, Coleridge, Wordsworth and Southey wrote poems beneath the shade of the oldest yew. In the 2003 photo it is seen with large quantities of ivy filling its upper branches. This has been removed, leaving the foliage looking rather thin in 2016.
