Notes: Mugglewort Wood and Monkhill Wood were possibly once part of the lands given to the nearby Flaxley Abbey by Henry III. They are just outside of the Forest of Dean perambulation but are included in the Forestry Commission's Forest Plan for Haywood and Castiard Vale (2014-2024) which contains information on proposed thinning and removal of conifer. It is assumed that the yew will not be part of this. The yews are confined to scarp edges, earthworks, geological and other boundaries. A few individuals have suffered from wind blow and heaved and there is evidence of yew regeneration as a few young trees were observed. There are 20+ yews within these areas and 12 are recorded here. Others were observed, but owing to the steep north facing slopes were not measured or photographed. Girth measurements are at the root crown unless otherwise stated.
