The church dates from the 12th century but the origins of the site lie somewhere between the 5th and 8th century. There are 10 yews in the churchyard, equally divided between male and female, though of the five oldest recorded here, four are male. Trees numbered 1,2,3,8 and 10 are featured in the Tree Information. The remaining yews suggest an age below 300 years.
