Notes: The Ancient Tree Initiative description is as follows: 'It forms part of a short avenue of yews which approximates to one illustrated on an very late 17th cent. plan of the park (by Kyp and Knyff). It is possible that this yew tree is the sole survivor of the original avenue as it is much larger than its companions. However the gardens were re-modelled in the 1730s, so it may not be an original. The other yews may thus have been planted as replacements perhaps during this period or later; the garden having been abandoned entirely by 1818 but partially restored again in the mid 1800s.
