Notes: 1829 - Notes on the Churches of Kent by Sir Stephen Glynne: 'Near the church is a fine yew tree'. 1848 - A Topographical Dictionary of England recorded that 'in the churchyard are two fine yew-trees'. 1853 - Saunders' sepia drawing shows a circular seat around the largest yew, a tradition that is maintained to this day.
