Notes: According to the Church History the earliest reference to the church occurs in 1295. It was possibly founded as a dependant chapel to Bedwas parish church in the mid C13 and remained a chapel-of-ease until 1914. The church was substantially restored in 1885. In 1880 the Cardiff Naturalists' Society described yews here as presenting 'a group of an exceedingly interesting character'. One of the trees they described is now lost, but six yews continue to grow at the site. Although of small girth, one of the line of four on the north side is recorded here. This yew SW lies on the ground while the ancient yew grows SE.
