It was substantially restored in 1849 with a number of new features incorporated into the fabric, most notably the outer arch of the south facing porch which came from the ruins of the Cistercian nunnery at Margam Abbey. St Bride, Bridget, or Brigid, was an Irish Celtic saint (451-525) known for her travels throughout Wales.
