Notes:

Yew 1 is male, with a girth of 526cm measured at ground and root crown horizontal with highest ground level. Girth was also recorded at 85cm above highest ground point, the apparent minimum, at 450cm. It grows on the edge of a c3m vertical drop to the garage level and roadside car parking area and has a considerable exposed and undamaged root system showing on the face of the slope which reveals the sandstone composition of the site. Substantial roots belonging to the tree run parallel with the edge of this vertical drop in both directions. The bole is c3m high above the top edge of this small cliff, at which point it has sometime been destroyed and has formed several new and vertical uprights to form the framework of a large, tall and regular conical canopy. A lateral branch has partially broken and touches ground in an up-slope direction, there it has layered securely, and an adventitious shoot c30cm in height has reverted from differentiated branch material to vertical habit.
