January 1998 – Tim Hills: A vast fragment growing north of the church merely hints at the size of the original tree. It was measured c 1987 by Ann Nethercott for the Country Living/Conservation Foundation project and girths of 31′ 9” at 3′ and 35′ at 5′ were recorded. Meredith’s Gazetteer in The Sacred Yew (1994) gives a girth of 37′.
