Notes:January 1998 – Tim Hills: SW of the church and close to adjacent gardens. How different the tree looks in 1998 and 2009 – after the clearance of rubbish, logs and barbed wire. It was measured c1987 by Ann Nethercott for the Country Living/Conservation Foundation project and a girth of 29′ 6” (899cm) at 4′ was recorded. Meredith’s Gazetteer in The Sacred Yew (1994) gives a girth of 22′.
