Disserth

Tree ID: 922

Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m

Tree girth: 472cm

Girth height: at the ground

Tree sex: unspecified

Date of visit: 26-Oct-13

Source of earliest mention: 1833: Lewis's Topographical Dictionary of Wales

Notes:

The yew grows on the right side on entering the churchyard. In 2001 a girth of 15′ 6” (472cm) at its narrowest point was recorded. In 2013 this was closer to 16′. From its elongated bole are many branches, the most prominent leaning over the churchyard gate. Another substantial branch has been sawn off. The sequence of photos shows how quickly twiggy growth can effectively hide a tree.
