Notes:Yew tree D, the only male, is at SO51988797. It was measured at a height of just under 4′ from the ground on the field side of the tree. It appears that the tree has grown over wire on the footpath side and it shows a distinct line at the height that appears to be its visible narrowest point. A girth of 14′ 9” (450cm) was recorded, but this does not tell the whole story. From the field side of the tree is seen dead sapwood, behind which the tree is growing internally. Here is evidence that this yew has been larger still in the past.
