Notes:

2003 Tim Hills: Tree 2 on the plan with a girth 20′ 11” (638cm) at its narrowest point 2′ to 3′ above the ground and exactly 21′ (640cm) at 5′. More than half of its circumference is of dead sapwood. Roots spread a considerable distance from the bole. Inside the hollow is a 4′ deep accumulation of humus.
2025 Ancient Tree Inventory: Described as standing close to the top of a steep wooded slope. From the east the trunk appears solid, but it is little more than an outer shell. Girth recorded as 6.29m (20′ 8”) at 70cm. ATI tree number 28142. The western side reveals a cave-like trunk almost entirely hollow, with a major 2m high opening, starting at ground level. A mass of decomposing humus and friable wood fragments at the base of the trunk.
