Kennington

Tree ID: 537

Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m

Tree girth: 508cm

Girth height: at the ground

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 1-Apr-99

Source of earliest mention: 1936: The King's England - Arthur Mee

Notes:

1999 and 2013 – Tim Hills: Smallest of the four and the only male, it grows NW of the church. A tall, narrow tree with reddish bark and large areas of dead wood. Girth recorded was 16′ 9″ (511cm) close to the ground in 1999 and 16′ 8″ (508cm) at approximately the same height in 2013. A split in the trunk opposite the hollow side, seen here, suggests that the tree will eventually become two fragments.
